The Sydney Swans celebrated a fantastic season of football with the Swans Ambassadors on Wednesday evening, including Sunrise presenter Melissa Doyle, sporting star Ellyse Perry and media personalities Tom Williams and Deborah Hutton.

The Swans are fortunate to have the support of a large group of loyal Ambassadors who do a fantastic job publicly showing their support for the Swans.

Hutton, who has attended every home game this season and also been a presence at a number of Club functions, was awarded the “Best and Fairest’’ Ambassador prize and presented with a framed guernsey signed by the 2010 team.

Hutton was ecstatic and was heard to say that she would definitely move some artwork aside to hang her Swans prize.

Perry, who has represented Australia in both soccer and cricket, also won an award for her enthusiastic support of the Swans. Perry recently became the first woman to play against men in a Sydney grade cricket match. When she was handed her prize, Marty Mattner joked that she had just been called up to play against England in the Third Test.

ABC radio host Adam Spencer also took to the stage to receive an award and proudly related how he had tipped the Swans to win the grand final this year in a newspaper tipping competition - even though it was a Collingwood v St Kilda match.

“And it was a draw so I wasn’t actually wrong,’’ Spencer proclaimed.

Swans co-captain Craig Bolton was the MC for the night, and he was joined at the function by a number of team-mates including Jesse White, Jarrad McVeigh, Mattner, new recruit Jed Lamb, Shane Mumford and Lewis Jetta.

Coach John Longmire also attended the event and took questions from the floor, including a curly one about whether the Swans would win the 2011 premiership.
“What I can say is we’re all about improvement. We are driven to get better every year,’’ Longmire said.

Swans chairman Richard Colless thanked the Ambassadors for their ongoing support of the Swans and the work they do to help promote the Club.
