The AFL wishes to advise the Tribunal will sit tonight at 5.30pm, Tuesday August 1, after Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge chose to contest the charge laid against him by the Match Review Panel from its review of the matches played in round 19 of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. Please also find below the detail of those sanctions accepted:

AFL Tribunal, Tuesday August 1, 5.30pm:
Luke Hodge, Hawthorn, has been charged with striking Tom Papley, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the Round 19 match between Hawthorn and the Sydney Swans, played at the MCG on Friday July 28, 2017.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Sydney Swans Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the body. The incident was a third classifiable offence and therefore classified as both a one-match sanction and a $2500 sanction.


Sanctions Accepted:
Lance Franklin, Sydney Swans, has accepted a $1500 sanction for making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the face of Luke Hodge, Hawthorn, during the first quarter of the Round 19 match between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, played at the MCG on Friday July 28, 2017.

Patrick Dangerfield, Geelong Cats, has accepted a one-match sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Matthew Kreuzer, Carlton, during the third quarter of the Round 19 match between the Geelong Cats and Carlton, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday July 29, 2017.

Taylor Adams, Collingwood, has accepted a $1000 sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Rory Laird, Adelaide Crows, during the third quarter of the Round 19 match between Collingwood and the Adelaide Crows, played at the MCG on Sunday July 30, 2017.
