It was a life-changing decision, but one she didn’t make alone. When avid North Melbourne supporter Angela received a call to enter into a special raffle to support the club, it was close friend, fellow Roos supporter and colleague Steve that convinced her to buy a ticket.

“Steve told me I would get a call and urged me to buy a ticket because the prizes were so good and it was a great chance to support the club,” Angela told kangaroos.com.au.

With a major prize of $30,000 cash up for grabs, $5,000 cash for second place and a signed jumper to be given away each month over a year, Angela was just one of hundreds of supporters who jumped at the chance to enter.

However she didn’t expect a phone call from chief executive Eugene Arocca in mid-June.

“I called her on the 16th and told her she had won the $30,000 cash…she was extremely excited and initially didn’t believe me,” Arocca recalled.

“I was in shock. I knew that by buying a ticket I was investing in the club’s financial future but I had no idea that I would be investing in my own as well,” Angela said.

Arocca says the raffle was achieved a great result for the club and thanked all supporters who purchased a ticket.

“It was a great result for us and particularly Angela, but most importantly we would like to thank all our followers who dug deep and helped support the club through the raffle.”
