HAWTHORN has taken over as the wobbliest team on the Match Review Panel tightrope this season, with five of its biggest stars carrying bad records after 10 rounds.
The revamped MRP has been well received after it abolished carryover points and introduced more fines to replace one-week bans, and there have been fewer players suspended as a result.
Bad records remain, however, with players who have been suspended for two matches or more in the past two seasons looking at an extra week on the sidelines the next time they are suspended.
Hawthorn is delicately placed as it plots a path back into the top four in the second half of the season, with Shaun Burgoyne, Jarryd Roughead, Brian Lake, Luke Hodge and Jordan Lewis all in this position.
Fremantle will also need to be careful, with star midfielder Nat Fyfe, captain Matthew Pavlich and important small forward Hayden Ballantyne all stuck with bad records.
Clubs also need to keep track of the three strikes system for minor penalties, which has replaced one-week bans and reprimands with carryover points this season.
Players are now automatically fined for their first two low-level offences, but their third strike inside a season will result in a one-match ban.
Essendon forward Joe Daniher is the only player to accumulate two strikes in the first 10 rounds, with $28,500 accumulated so far for low-level offences that would have been penalised with carryover points or suspensions last year.
