RICHMOND star Dustin Martin says he will be fit to take on West Coast in Saturday's clash at the MCG after suffering a fractured cheekbone against Collingwood last Thursday.
But, the Tigers will be without half-forward Shane Edwards (hip) and Ben Griffiths (concussion) after the Tigers ruled the pair out on Monday afternoon.
Martin suffered the injury in a collision with Magpie James Aish in the first quarter, playing out the match but sporting a blackened right eye and swelling on his right cheekbone.
Richmond confirmed on Monday afternoon he had suffered a 'minor' fracture to his cheekbone but he was still a good chance to face the Eagles.
"He copped a whack in the side of his cheekbone and we got a scan and it’s come back with a small crack," physical performance manager Peter Burge told the club's website.
"He did play three quarters of the game with it and did well. So we’ll assess him during the week.
"I would be hopeful that he’d be out there on the weekend, but that’ll be a medical call on Dustin."
Martin, 25, was sent for scans on Monday morning and told reporters he would be fit to play, saying: "It should be sweet, I'll go and see the doc now and he can have a look".
Coach Damien Hardwick was also confident post-match that his 2016 club champion would be able to play with the injury.
While not at his outstanding best, Martin was still highly influential against Collingwood, spending long periods forward and kicking two late goals to help the Tigers to a 19-point win.
Edwards suffered a hip injury late in last Thursday night's match, with the Tigers ruling him out for at least two matches.
Griffiths will miss at least one game, with the Tigers taking a cautious approach given his previous history with concussions.
"Even though it is a longer break this week (nine days), the 'doc' has already made the call that he won’t play," Burge said.
"We've got to give him the right time to recover and then assess where we go from here."
The Tigers said rookie big man Mabior Chol had pulled up well from a head injury suffered in a VFL practice game last Thursday and would face a fitness test this week.
The athletic 20-year-old is considered a contender to replace Griffiths against West Coast on Saturday if he is passed fit.
