COLLINGWOOD could package up its first-round draft pick and a future second-round selection to snare star midfielder Adam Treloar from Greater Western Sydney.
Treloar has nominated the Pies as his preferred destination after being squeezed out from the Giants due to their tight salary cap.
Speaking on NAB AFL Trade Radio, Collingwood's list manager Derek Hine said the Pies' first pick – No.7 overall – in this year's draft could be on the table as well as a 2016 second-round selection.
"He's a 22-year-old, he's had some really consistent footy, he's played 79 games … he's an elite player and he's got enormous upside – I think it's not too far off," Hine said.
Hine said the Pies' were hopeful of a win-win exchange, reminiscent of when premiership defender Heath Shaw moved to GWS in a swap for Taylor Adams.
"Clearly Adam wants to get to us and we want to have him. It's just a matter of us sitting down with GWS and working through the process," Hine said.
"We've done it in the past when it was a really win-win outcome for both Shawy and Tay Adams, so we're hoping for a similar outcome."
A bumper NAB AFL Trade Period is expected over the next 11 days, with the Magpies set to be key players.
Collingwood also hopes to secure Brisbane Lions midfielder James Aish, despite the Lions' refusal to trade the out-of-contract youngster.
"We've got to work within those rules and that's where the difficulty is. Brisbane's stance is well documented; they've got every right to take it whatever direction they want to go. We're hopeful we can facilitate it," Hine said.
The Pies will also have their hands full setting up deals for Nathan Freeman, Paul Seedsman and Ben Kennedy, who have stated their desire to leave.
St Kilda is keen to recruit Freeman, who was pick 10 two years ago but hasn't played a game due to persistent injuries, and the Saints' pick 24 could be in play for the 21-year-old.
"We're realistic where it all sits. He's clearly a first-round pick that hasn't played, but he clearly wants to get to St Kilda and we're not going to be silly about it … that'll get sorted at some point," Hine said.
Hine said the Pies were still waiting to hear where Anzac Day medallist Paul Seedsman wanted to be traded – AFL.com.au understands North Melbourne, Gold Coast and Adelaide are leading the chase.
Kennedy has met with Melbourne, which rated the South Australian highly in his 2012 draft year.
