In disappointing news for Carlton, first year player Shaun Grigg fractured his shoulder while playing for the Northern Bullants against Coburg on Easter Sunday and is set to miss eight to ten weeks.
Grigg who has been an emergency in Carlton’s two opening games of the season is very unlucky not to have played a senior game for the Blues, having also been the emergency during the NAB Cup series, including one of the emergencies for the NAB Cup Grand Final.
He injured his shoulder during the ‘Bullants big 61-point victory in round one of the VFL. Grigg was recruited from Redan via the North Ballarat Under 18’s with Carlton’s third selection, number 19 overall, in the 2006 NAB AFL National Draft.
Other Carlton players unavailable due to injury are Anthony Koutoufides who is expected to miss a further five weeks and Anthony Raso and Clinton Benjamin who are both expected to miss one more match. Rookie ruckman Sam Jacobs hyper extended his knee on Easter Sunday and he will be assessed during the week.
