HBA HighMarks, Day 3

Written by Ben Woollard, Alexandra Football and Netball Club Rebels

Today we attended a boxing circuit session with Rehabilitation Coordinator Alex Clarke. The sessions were really good, they were a real physical challenge. We don’t really do anything like that at our club, so it was great to get some variety.

I definitely think that I can take some ideas back to the club and get all the other boys involved!

We practiced using marking bags which we don’t have at our club; we’ve got the tackling bags, but the marking bags were heaps more fun!

We then had a swim/rehabilitation session, and it was great to use the facilities that the Hawks boys use for their own rehab.

The best experience I’ve had this week was meeting the coach and the players. They all gave us great advice and hearing them talk was really great.

I’ve learnt what steps I can take to further my AFL career. I learnt about the players and the steps they took to get where they are today, which was really interesting.
Three words to describe the three days? Amazing. Challenging. Fun.

I have to say a big thank you to everyone involved. I had a great experience and so did all the other boys. It would be great if the program could continue for other kids, because I had a fantastic time.

While I haven’t been 100% converted to being a Hawthorn supporter, I can’t wait to cheer them on Friday at the ‘G, which I’m very excited about!
