WITH GRAHAM Polak out of action for the rest of the season, Richmond now has the opportunity to elevate a rookie onto the senior list.

Polak could be moved to the long term injury list, which would open up a spot if the club decided it was something that would aid the club and the player.

But coach Terry Wallace said the move would only be made if there was a clear benefit for all concerned.

"We've got a meeting today where we'll discuss those sorts of things – really, for the initial stages, for a week and a half, it's just been Graham's health," Wallace said on Tuesday.

"That's been exactly where it is – we haven't even spoken in terms of what that means for the long term injury list and things like that, because we've been off the footy aspect of it for a week, I guess.

"So we'll have those sorts of discussions and see if there's anyone worthy or capable of coming up."

Wallace wouldn't reveal who was the most likely to get the nod if it was decided to forge ahead with the plan, but did narrow the field considerably.

"I would say the two that are probably strongest are Jarrod Silvester and Tristan Cartledge, who have probably been the best two performed players at VFL level, but as I said, that'll be discussed and we'll make the decisions  It's a waste of time bringing them up unless you're going to play them.

"So we don't have to make a decision in a hurry – if we feel that one of them is ready to play, then that's when you make the decision."
