PORT Adelaide captain Dom Cassisi insists an upcoming court case in which forward Daniel Motlop stands accused of assaulting teammate Jacob Surjan's girlfriend has had no effect on the team this pre-season.

Motlop, 28, will stand trial in April accused of assaulting Surjan's girlfriend at a Glenelg hotel last year after attempts by the club to resolve the matter through mediation were unsuccessful.

Coach Matthew Primus and football manager Peter Rohde have addressed all the players on the issue and Cassisi said there had been no obvious signs of a rift between Motlop and Surjan around the club.

"The club has been transparent with what's happened and everyone is aware of the scenario that is going to be played out," Cassisi said on Wednesday.

"All we can do is worry about training hard, and as far as Jacob and Daniel are concerned, the way they've handled each other and interacted at the club has been outstanding.

"They understand that once they're behind these doors we expect them to train hard, interact and get along well together. There has been nothing to show any different to that.

"From a players' point of view you wouldn't even know it's going on."

Motlop unsuccessfully sought a trade to another club at the end of last season after an indifferent year on and off the field.

The enigmatic goalkicker missed 12 games through injury and was suspended by the club for another week for leaving the team hotel to pick his girlfriend up from the airport at 2am during a trip to Darwin in round nine.
