Didak played his first senior game since round 11 against the Eagles last week.
After starting as substitute, he came on in the third quarter, had 15 disposals and kicked a goal.
Buckley said Didak had earned his selection and then maintained pressure on the selectors by making the most of his opportunity.
With Jamie Elliott likely to again miss with hamstring tightness, Didak is a strong chance to play against North Melbourne.
"The door is ajar. He played well [and] very likely will get the opportunity following on from that because of his performance," Buckley said.
"You have got to take your chances when they come and 'Dids' did that and it was great to see his teammates rally around him but that is not an isolated circumstance."
Buckley said players supported any teammate they knew was doing it tough or having to work hard to come out of a bad patch.
He said the team was rallying around the injured Dale Thomas, who has missed most of the season with ankle problems.
Thomas has seen three specialists as the club looks to a long-term solution to the ankle injury suffered by the 2010 All Australian.
Buckley said the consistent message from those who have examined Thomas was that he should wait for a month until the ankle had settled down before a specific course of action was determined.
He said both Thomas and the club were taking their time to make the right decision.
"We'll just keep going through the process to get right result for him and us," Buckley said.
Dayne Beams will return after missing round 22 with a back injury, while the club will wait and see on the availability of Luke Ball.
Buckley said Ball's rehabilitation from a calf injury was progressing well and he did not train on Thursday because he was ill.
He said a decision would be made on whether Darren Jolly needed to play a senior game before the finals series, but insisted Brodie Grundy had given no indication he was wilting under the workload of senior football.
