ADELAIDE coach Neil Craig has dismissed speculation that Brent Reilly and Jonathon Griffin would be offered up for trade during this week's player exchange period.

Reilly, 24, was overlooked for the Crows' elimination final side while Griffin, 22, has been reported to be homesick for his native Perth.

However Craig denied either was keen to leave.

"As far as my conversations with Brent, they've been very much along the lines that I want him to stay," Craig said as he entered Telstra Dome on Monday for the start of trade week.

"He's a contracted player and he's very keen to stay. I expect him to be with us [next year].

"Absolutely, [it's] the same with Jon."

Having made five trades last year – bringing in Brad Symes and Brad Moran and finding new homes for Ben Hudson, Marty Mattner and John Meesen – Craig predicted a more passive role for his club this time around.

"We've got nothing in particular that we're chasing, so it's really just to come and have a bit of a listen and see what's around – you never know of course," he said.

Craig has already stated publicly that Adelaide's prized first-round pick (10th overall) will not be traded away and, with most other clubs following a similar line, he felt this exchange period could be a quiet one.

"You talk to every club and what's their standard line? The round one pick is out pretty much," he said.

"So to try and do any deals underneath that becomes difficult unless you've got two clubs that have got like for like [players] and that's often where the deals get done."
