Sydney Swans players will wear black armbands during Saturday night's season opener against West Coast in respect to the passing of three most passionate supporters of the Club.

PETER HAYWARD
Peter Hayward was a long time Swans supporter/sponsor/benefactor. He was part of our Club18 Group that provided much of the funding for our financial contribution to the development of our facilities in Driver Avenue. He wore the biggest Swans scarf ever produced. Peter was a diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2006 and passed away in December, 2006. During this time, which he knew was limited, Peter had the thrill of participating in our Premiership flag unfurling prior to the 2006 round 2 game against Port Adelaide at the SCG.

KERRY TEMPLETON
Kerry was the wife of Kelvin Templeton (the 1980 Brownlow Medallist) who was our CEO from 1995-2002. She was of incredible support to Kelvin in what was a period of unprecedented growth for the club. In her own right Kerry was a highly regarded academic and an extraordinarily vivacious, positive, and upbeat person. Kerry died of a brain embolism in Abu Dhabi in February.

BILLY THORPE
Billy is arguably the greatest rock performer and personality Australia has ever produced. He was an inaugral Swans' Ambassador and the most involved of our 40 odd ambassadors. Regular attendee at our games bedecked with Swans scarf be it from SCG to MCG on Grand Final day and any Swans function to which he was asked to attend. At the time of his death Billy was working on some original songs for our 25 Year function on 14 June. Billy died of a heart attack in late February 2007. On 4th March 7000 people attended his funeral which was broadcast live on SKY, he was a wonderfully enthusiastic Swans supporter.
