Hawks fan Tom Hartney has submitted his ULTIMATE Hawks Premiership Team on behalf of his band - Little Red - and has answered a few questions for hawthornfc.com.au on their selections.

Little Red independently released their debut album Listen to Little Red in 2008, and in 2010 they released their second album, Midnight Remember, which produced commercial hits Slow Motion and Rock It.

Who are the non-negotiable selections in your side?
Obviously Lethal has got to be in there. I originally had him in the forward pocket, but in a stroke of genius Adrian moved him onto the ball, giving us the very exciting line-up of Don Scott, Michael Tuck, and Leigh Matthews as followers.

Then of course we've got Gary Ayres, Peter Knights, Dermie, Peter Hudson, Dunstall and Buddy, who we put on the wing to spice things up.

Talk us through your selections for coach and captain.

Allan Jeans as coach was kind of a no-brainer for us. After he passed away we heard some of his motivational speeches on the radio and realised why he was so successful - such a great orator and so much passion!

Also, we grew up in the 80s when the Hawks were in the grand final pretty much every year, so Allan Jeans as coach is ingrained into our subconscious.

Michael Tuck as captain was also a unanimous decision. He was captain during the great premiership wins of the late 80s that we remember best! With his beard and long sleeves, he's not a glamourous captain like Nick Riewoldt, but he's the kinda captain I like best - leads by example and I always thought he looked like a bushranger which is kinda cool.

Which players from different eras are you most excited to see line-up in the same team?

I'm pretty excited to have Gary Ayres and Luke Hodge playing together, I think Hodgey would have fitted right into an 80s side. We've got Platten in the centre and Buddy on a wing and I think they will generate a bit of excitement, and then we've got Cyril Rioli in the forward pocket next to Dunstall which would be fascinating to watch.

Any curly selections?

When you're so spoilt for riches it is very difficult - do you put Kelvin Moore or Chris Langford at full-back? We went with Kelvin Moore and put Chris Langford in the back-pocket, meaning we had to leave out the specialist back-pockets, like Andy Collins and David Parkin, who was before our time, but we've got him on the bench.

Same issue in the forward line - we went with Dunstall at full-forward and put Peter Hudson in the forward pocket and Buddy on the wing.

Would have been good to fit Shane Crawford and Sam Mitchell in the starting line-up but we've got them on the bench to provide a bit of run when some of the older players get tired.

So.. when are they actually playing? I can't wait to see it!
