[17:04:16] :Whatzisname: G'day Matty. Why is it that you always make sure you have a loose fitting jumper, rather than a snug fit?

[17:04:32] :Matt Capuano: Just more comfortable in a loose fitting jumper.

[17:04:49] :i_luv_riewoldt: Hey Matt, were you very tired after training on Monday?

[17:05:04] :Matt Capuano: First day back's always a hard session, so yeah it was.

[17:05:30] :vergs: Are the likes of Knobel and Brooks looking up to you as a mentor?

[17:05:56] :Matt Capuano: I guess in a way they are. Hopefully I can teach them a few things that I’ve learnt over the years.

[17:06:16] :Whatzisname: Matty, do you prefer around the ground ruck work to the centre bounce stuff? More bustle than leap?

[17:06:42] :Matt Capuano: I do these days - I can't jump as high as I used to, so around the ground is more the go.

[17:06:59] :i_luv_riewoldt: What team did you go for when you were a kid?

[17:07:14] :Matt Capuano: Richmond - I came from a big Richmond family.

[17:07:29] :FreeSept: What has been your impression of Brooks?

[17:07:56] :Matt Capuano: He's trained very hard and moves very well for his size. Hopefully he can take the next step this year.

[17:08:12] :BendigoSaint: Matt, you played with a successful side in the 90’s, how close are the Saints?

[17:08:56] :Matt Capuano: I think we have a very different side from the Kangaroos - this team is a lot younger, but has potential to be just as good as the ‘Roos of the 90’s.

[17:09:14] :Scout_12: Would you ever like to play for Richmond?

[17:09:29] :Matt Capuano: I'm happy where I am at St Kilda.

[17:09:45] :i_luv_riewoldt: Who do you get along best with at the Club?

[17:10:14] :Matt Capuano: They're all great, but Steve Lawrence and Fraser Gehrig are the guys I hang around with the most.

[17:10:39] :emancipation: How do you rate Grant Thomas against Denis Pagan as a coach?

[17:11:35] :Matt Capuano: They're both different, but they're both very good. Different styles, but both are good in their own way.

[17:11:53] :Scout_12: What was the best game you ever played in?

[17:11:58] :Matt Capuano: 1999 Grand Final.

[17:12:16] :i_luv_riewoldt: What’s been your favourite ground to play at?

[17:12:28] :Matt Capuano: You can't get any better than a full house at the MCG.

[17:12:42] :sAiNtA: Do you have a set routine before each game?

[17:12:54] :Matt Capuano: Yeah I do, but I’m not super strict about it.

[17:13:12] :Scout_12: Who do you think is the best player in the League?

[17:13:25] :Matt Capuano: I'd probably have to say Michael Voss.

[17:13:43] :Scout_12: Would you ever do a ‘Men for all Seasons’ calendar? :)

[17:13:57] :Matt Capuano: No, I'll leave that to the pretty boys - I don't have the goods.

[17:14:12] :vergs: Who is the most hard working player at the Club this pre-season?

[17:14:47] :Matt Capuano: Aaron Hamill is always up there. Lenny Hayes and Fraser Gehrig have stood out as well

[17:15:04] :saintsgal: What can supporters expect to see in Season 2003?

[17:15:50] :Matt Capuano: I think you'll see an improvement. The younger guys have a season under their belts, and the older guys will be back on the ground - so as long as we keep working hard, we'll definitely improve.

[17:16:08] :Whatzisname: What brand of footy is the team to play this season?

[17:16:28] :Matt Capuano: A direct, efficient game. Hard at the man, and hard at the ball mentality.

[17:16:48] :BendigoSaint: Is the Club wanting to win the pre-season competition, or wait for the real stuff in Round 1?

[17:17:13] :Matt Capuano: We'll take the pre-season competition pretty seriously, but it's not going to be the end of the world if we don't win it.

[17:17:36] :vergs: What is planned for the players at the pre-season camp in Tasmania?

[17:18:16] :Matt Capuano: We'll be doing a bit of work in the community, a few practice matches, and both football and fitness sides of training.

[17:18:40] :RodgerFox: Matt, Steve Lawrence looked ready to become one of the genuine stars of the competition when he was at Brisbane, but hasn’t had much luck with injury at the Saints. How is he travelling?

[17:19:49] :Matt Capuano: He's travelling pretty well and he's taken it pretty easily after his shoulder reconstruction - but he's really got stuck into it in the last few days of training. It's probably one of the best pre-season’s he's had so far.

[17:20:09] :vergs: What do you think is our greatest strength and our greatest weakness?

[17:21:01] :Matt Capuano: I think our weakness is inexperience, but that'll become a strength, once the younger guys get a few games under them.

[17:21:14] :vergs: What do you like to do outside of football?

[17:21:42] :Matt Capuano: I'm doing an Information Technology degree, so outside of football - mostly school. Other than that, just relaxing and taking it easy.

[17:22:03] :saintjanet: Do you think Kosi will play in the ruck much this season?

[17:22:30] :Matt Capuano: I think at some stage he might; he's got a bit taller in recent times, so he could well get a run in there.

[17:22:48] :Spelly: What is your favourite television program Matt?

[17:23:10] :Matt Capuano: Used to be Seinfeld, but now it's the English Soccer on SBS.

[17:23:25] :i_luv_riewoldt: Who did you look up to when you were a kid?

[17:23:45] :Matt Capuano: Michael Roach and my Dad were the people I looked up to most.

[17:23:59] :Scout_12: Are there any practical jokers at the club?

[17:24:24] :Matt Capuano: Stephen Milne is never short of a gag, and Nathan Burke is a bit of a joker as well.

[17:24:37] :far_too_ezy: What soccer club do you follow Matt?

[17:24:42] :Matt Capuano: Chelsea.

[17:24:57] :vergs: What are your goals for this year, both on and off the field?

[17:25:43] :Matt Capuano: On the field - to get out on the paddock, play consistent football, and become more of a leader around the Club. Off the field - to finish my Information Technology degree.

[17:26:03] :i_luv_riewoldt: Is Brett Moyle okay now after his run in with Dal Santo on Monday?

[17:26:18] :Matt Capuano: He's fine. Just twisted his knee a little bit. He'll be fine.

[17:26:41] :emancipation: When you slot into the forward line to kick a lazy few this year, who is most likely to relieve you in the ruck?

[17:27:06] :Matt Capuano: Probably Barry Brooks or Trent Knobel - maybe even Kosi.

[17:27:40] :vergs: Which players do you think will be the main improvers this year?

[17:27:57] :Matt Capuano: Luke Ball and Brendon Goddard will be the big improvers.

[17:28:25] :Scout_12: What sort of music do you like?

[17:28:49] :Matt Capuano: Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam.

[17:29:33] :Matt Capuano: Thanks very much for the questions guys, I hope to see you all at Sainters’ games in the 2003 Season!
