TOUGH Port Adelaide onballer Ollie Wines woke with his pillow "covered in blood" after suffering a cut ear in the Power's 57-point win over the Western Bulldogs on Thursday night.

His ear became swollen after the incident, with the knock affecting the outside of his ear. It was not an internal injury.

Wines racked up 35 disposals, seven tackles and a goal in Port's comfortable victory.

"I copped a whack in the ear," Wines told South Australian radio station FIVEaa on Friday.

"I've got like a cauliflower ear.

"I've had a shocking sleep because I can only sleep on my back. I can't sleep on my side," Wines said.

"I looked at my pillow this morning and it's covered in blood, so it hasn't been the best sleep."

The 23-year-old didn't seem overly concerned about the injury, but he is going to the doctor.

"Not from the interior of the ear – on top and around it, like a cut. It's a bit swollen up. I'll see the doctor this morning," Wines said.

"We pop in the club if we need some attention and I'll go and get patched up.

"I think I may have been clumsy and ran into someone. I remember feeling it through the match and at the end it was a bit sore - not the best but that's footy."

Port Adelaide face Melbourne next Friday at Adelaide Oval.
