St Kilda Football Club is thrilled to announce a new membership record as the Club, for the first time in their 137 year history, breaks the magical 40,000 mark.

Having already surpassed the previous Club record of 33,500 members in March of this year, the Saints have today achieved 40,000 committed and dedicated members as the tally reached 40,009.

With the Saints on-field success in recent years, combined with a number of new membership initiatives launched for the 2010 season, Saints fans were given further encouragement to get behind their team and the response has been remarkable.

Since last year, Kid’s Membership numbers have increased by 33%, and Level 3 Reserved Seating members now fill seven times the number of seats at Etihad Stadium.

Overall, the Saints have welcomed over 10,300 new members to the Club in 2010.

St Kilda CEO Michael Nettlefold said, “The fantastic support the Club has received from our members has been inspirational.”

“Members are the heart and soul of every football Club, and the driving force behind our players who represent us every weekend.”

“This amazing record tells us that our supporters love watching Saints Footy. We are proud to have such a strong membership base as we head into a new and exciting era for the Club, which includes our move to the new Linen House Centre at Frankston later this year.”

With one month to go until memberships close for 2010 season, and 3,914 members still to renew from last year, the Saints are looking to build on this new benchmark. Memberships are still available by calling 1300 GO SAINTS or via the website.
