CARLTON expects Lachie Henderson to be available for round one when the Blues' season kicks off against Port Adelaide on Sunday, March 16.

It also expects midfielder Andrew Carrazzo to have overcome his calf problems in time for round two while Chris Judd is on track for a return in round three.

Henderson had surgery on his leg in January but Carlton's director of coaching and development Rob Wiley told Melbourne radio station SEN that Henderson was raring to go after a couple of strong weeks on the training track.

"Mick [Malthouse] put him through some real hard stuff [at training] the week before and he came through with flying colours so we're looking forward to having him back for round one," Wiley said.

Carrazzo struggled with calf problems in 2013 and missed the final five games of the season. The 30-year-old has been monitored carefully during the pre-season and should return in round two.

Carlton has an 11-day break between round one and two when it plays Richmond at the MCG.

"He is running and joining in each week more and more," Wiley said.

Judd had an operation in early February to fix a troublesome Achilles but remained on track to return as expected against Essendon in round three.

Meanwhile Bryce Gibbs will wear a protective guard on a sore hand during training but Wiley said he was certain to be available for round one.

Carlton plays the Western Bulldogs in a practice match on Friday at Visy Park. Along with Gibbs it has also rested Matthew Kreuzer, Andrew Walker and Chris Yarran.
