PORT Adelaide star Chad Wingard is posting numbers more in line with his breakout 2013 season this year after working hard to improve his ball-winning capability.

Wingard gained All Australian selection and won the Power's best and fairest in 2013 while spending considerable time in the club's midfield. 

He averaged 21 disposals a game and booted 43 goals in what was an outstanding season for the second-year player, but was anchored in the forward line last year due to the form of Ollie Wines and Robbie Gray.

Hit influence remained significant – again he booted 43 goals – but he averaged 16 disposals a game. 

This year the 21-year-old is back averaging close to 21 touches a game and is more or less on track to again kick at least 40 goals. 

Speaking alongside Port's CEO Keith Thomas as the pair announced that the Power had reached 60,000 members, Wingard said he was trying to up his midfield game. 

He wasn't anticipating a permanent move into the centre square but wanted to be ready to fire when offered an opportunity. 

"You've got to try and add to your game – you've got to be versatile," Wingard said. 

"I'm learning from the guys in the midfield to try and add things to my game but like I said, if someone goes down like we've had, we've had Ollie Wines go down, (Jared) Polec … it's something that if I'm [called up] I want to have in my bag, that I'm prepared for. 

"It's something I'm trying to work on." 

To celebrate reaching the 60,000-membership mark, at every home game that attracts at least 50,000 supporters, Port Adelaide sponsor RAA will present a fan with a check for $10,000. 

The lucky supporter won't have to be a Power fan and the check will likely be presented to them at three-quarter time of the game.

Thomas said the membership figure made Port the fifth club in the AFL to attract such a supporter base, joining Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond and Adelaide.
