Collingwood has made two changes to its final 22 for Sunday’s big clash with Carlton at the MCG.
Midfield star Scott Pendlebury and emerging key forward Ben Reid come into the side to replace Ryan Cook and Shannon Cox, who have both been omitted from the team that beat Melbourne by 21 points last Monday.
Pendlebury, 20, was in stellar form over the first 10 rounds of the season before missing the win over the Demons with back tightness.
Reid, the club's first pick at number eight overall in the 2006 draft, has played one match in 2008 (against the Kangaroos in round five) after making three senior appearances in his debut season 2007. He has otherwise been impressive representing Collingwood's VFL team this season.
Cook and Cox are joined by young ruckman Cameron Wood on the list of emergencies
The match marks a series of milestones for the club, with Mick Malthouse set to move into third on the all-time list of most games coached at AFL/VFL Level (576 games), behind only Jock McHale (714 games) and Kevin Sheedy (635 games). Malthouse will also become just the fourth person to participate in 750 VFL/AFL games as player and coach.
It will also be the 150th game in black and white stripes for defender Shane Wakelin. Since crossing to Collingwood at the end of 2000 from St Kilda, where he played 94 matches, Wakelin has been a wonderful servant in the backline for the Magpies.
Collingwood fans are urged to arrive early to beat what’s expected to be a massive crowd, and also pay tribute to one of the club’s greatest ever players – Nathan Buckley, who will complete a lap of honour 20 minutes prior to the first bounce at 2:10pm.
