COLLINGWOOD will do all it can to facilitate a trade for Travis Cloke, coach Nathan Buckley says.
The 29-year-old premiership forward requested a trade a fortnight ago after being in and out of the seniors during the season.
Although Cloke remains contracted, Buckley told a members' forum on Monday night that the Magpies were prepared to make the trade.
The Western Bulldogs are favourites to win Cloke's services.
"Travis is still with us even though he has asked to move on," Buckley said.
"Frankly, we will do what we need to do to grant him his wish."
Buckley said Cloke had nothing to apologise for in seeking new horizons, and he had given great service to Collingwood.
However, the veteran had not had a good season.
"He really struggled through the pre-season for form, and in the first four weeks of the year he really struggled to have an impact in his role," Buckley said.
He defended his decision to drop Cloke for the annual Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon and subsequent decisions to leave him out of the seniors.
"I understand ... could he have played on Anzac Day and could he have made a difference?
"Yes, he could have, but his form was suggesting not and we think that Mason (Cox) came in and gave us that aerial presence that we were looking for," Buckley said.
"They are the judgment calls that we make as a match committee at times."
Cloke kicked 17 goals in 13 games this season to finish his Collingwood career with 441 goals in 246 games.
The Magpies are hopeful Darcy Moore, Jesse White and Mason Cox can play forward next season and they are looking to recruit Fremantle free agent Chris Mayne.
Lachlan Keefe will return from suspension in 2017 and will play as a tall utility, while the club is optimistic Jamie Elliott will make a successful comeback from a back injury that sidelined him for the season.
