VETERAN forward Drew Petrie wants to play at West Coast in 2017, but the Eagles are yet to decide whether they want to bring him to the club, his manager Shane Casley says.
Petrie believes the Eagles are a good fit for him to continue his 316-game career considering his relationship with West Coast coach and former Roo teammate Adam Simpson.
The 33-year-old was not offered a contract to play on at North Melbourne next season.
"He would play and he would play for the right club, knowing Simmo quite well," Casley told NAB AFL Trade Radio.
"That would be a challenge he is up for if that opportunity was available."
West Coast was the only club interested in Petrie's services, according to Casley.
"He's certainly said to me that he'd be happy to explore options and he's had some contact with the West Coast Eagles," Casley said.
"But West Coast has made it pretty clear that Drewy's one of three or four they are looking at, so they haven't committed to Drewy and we haven't committed to them.
"But there's certainly been some dialogue."
The Eagles are in the market for an experienced ruckman, with star big man Nic Naitanui expected to miss the 2017 season following a knee reconstruction to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
