Last weekend’s bye gave the Swans playing group the perfect opportunity to head out into the local community and visit hundreds of budding young footballers at their junior clubs.
Around 40 players took advantage of the perfect weather by venturing to local clubs across Sydney on Sunday morning, visiting locations including Glebe, Taren Point, Mosman, Gore Hill and North Ryde.
The visits, which were organised by the AFL in conjunction with the local junior clubs, saw Swans players help run clinics, offer some coaching advice, and even try their hand at interviewing the enthusiastic kids - as can be seen in the SwansTV piece above.
Alex Johnson and Ted Richards spoke to a number of the participants at the Glebe clinic, with the kids all seeming to enjoy the attacking side of the game far more than their interviewers who have been regulars in the impressive Swans defensive unit throughout 2011.
The Swans players will again be out in the community this coming Sunday morning as they host the Sydney Swans Melbourne Junior Clinic from 9am at Albert Park’s Lindsay Hassett Oval. Full details for the morning can be found here.
