AFL SportsReady currently has an exciting position available for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who has recently completed Year 12 wanting to pursue a career in the Sport and Recreation administration industry. 

The successful applicant will be legally employed by AFL SportsReady, but will work on-site with the Hawthorn FC and Dandenong Stingrays FC and receive an accredited Sport and Recreation qualification (on successful completion). 

Reporting to the Hawthorn FC Membership, Community and Fan Development Manager and the Dandenong Stingrays Talent Manager the purpose of this role will be to support the development of the Hawthorn FC and Dandenong Stingrays FC of as part of their community and fan development department. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver the Multicultural Schools Programs ensuring that participants learn the basic skills of AFL while having fun.
• Support and delivery of Hawthorn Football Club’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Grassroots programs.
• Undertake training and gain workplace experience in the football development and talent operations of AFL Victoria/ Hawthorn FC.
• Assist with the implementation of AFL Victoria’s/ Hawthorn FC Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment strategy.
• Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating events that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander football programs, E.g. AFL curtain raiser, AFL half time Auskick games and NAIDOC week activities. 
• Assist in establishing & supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Auskick Centre in areas with high Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populated areas.
• Provide support to Development & Operations Assistant in delivering school programs, clinics, holiday programs and other development related events.
