Fairfax newspapers allege a deal between the AFL, ASADA and Bombers is unravelling after intervention from the boss of the National Rugby League.
Hird hopes for resilience
It's reported the supposed agreement would prevent Essendon players from being suspended.
"In terms of speculation about deals, about what supplements were taken … speculation is one thing but the facts are another thing," Hird told Seven News.
"Our players right now have not tested positive for one performance enhancing drug, I think that's important for people to know."
Hird alluded to differences in the plight of his club and those in rugby league who are caught up in the scandal.
"The NRL and Cronulla have their issues like we have our issues and we'll let them handle those," he said.
Aware the issue won't go away until a resolution, Hird said the club was continuing to work with investigators.
"The Essendon football club invited ASADA and the AFL to come in and investigate our club and we've been fully co-operative with that investigation.
"We understand that that investigation has to be exhaustive and extensive and find what it has to find."
AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou said speculation of a deal was "complete and utter nonsense".
He said talks with ASADA and the Federal Government had simply been about the process.
"There wasn't a discussion as how to minimise penalty, there was a discussion as to in what circumstances do penalties ever get reduced," he told 3AW.
"We don't even know what the investigation's going to find. I'm not quite sure how you'd do a deal based on what you don't know."
