GRASSROOTS football clubs around Australia have the opportunity to vie for the playing services of North Melbourne legend Glenn Archer.

Archer and fellow premiership players Sam Kekovich (North) and Adrian Gleeson (Carlton) are executive producers of $5million footy movie Blinder, which premiered at Melbourne's Crown Casino on February 19 and will hit the cinemas on March 7.

Movie delivers stark reminder

With Blinder focusing on the Torquay Tigers, the makers of the film were keen to give something back to grassroots football.

As part of an online competition to promote the movie, a lucky grassroots club will have the choice of three prizes –Archer's onfield prowess, a night-time 'bonding session' with Archer and Kekovich, or an array of football equipment.

To enter, clubs need to upload their own 'blinder' footy moments (great marks, goals, passages of play, etc.) to grassrootslegends.com.au.

Archer, who will turn 40 on March 24, hasn't played an AFL game for five years, but is in superb shape. He weighs 93kgs – 2kgs lighter than when he won the Norm Smith Medal as a 23-year-old in 1996.

The AFL Hall of Famer told AFL.com.au his secret was to "sign up for a charity event because it makes you train".

Archer isn't promising to stand on heads, crack heads or kick a bag of goals. "All I can say is I'll try my best," he said. "I reckon I can still get a couple of good quarters out."
