Despite suffering a heavy loss against the Western Bulldogs, a handful of Brisbane Lions players made their way up to Etihad Stadium’s Victory Room after their Round 2 clash to speak with their loyal Melbourne supporters.

Daniel Rich, Daniel Merrett, Matthew Leuenberger, Pearce Hanley, Andrew Raines and emergency Jared Polec all took the time to head upstairs after the defeat and give an insight into the match.

Assistant Coach Adrian Fletcher also spent time up on stage to provide the eager fans with a detailed ‘post-mortem’.

While the mood was sombre, the fans in attendance showed their appreciation to the players with plenty of cheering and applause.

Former Fitzroy great Laurie Serafini hosted the event while newly appointed Chief Executive Malcolm Holmes introduced himself for the first time to some of the Victorian-based Lions fans.

The Club will hold an aftermatch function after each match played at Etihad Stadium throughout the 2011 season.
