GARY Ablett is a man of few words, but the Gold Coast skipper has bitten back at criticism from former teammate Campbell Brown.
Brown took to Twitter on Thursday to suggest Ablett's Suns teammates were annoyed their captain hadn't returned for day one of pre-season training on Monday.
After being married in January, Ablett was granted an extra week's leave to enjoy a delayed honeymoon and will return to training next week.
It's been a big couple of months for the dual Brownlow medallist, after it came to light he enquired about being traded back to Geelong.
Upon reading Brown's tweet, Ablett's response was succinct: "Mate, you've got my number".
Earlier in the day Ablett posted on Instagram from Los Angeles, saying he was on his way home.
On Monday, coach Rodney Eade said Ablett was still "totally committed", citing his role in recruiting Pearce Hanley, Jarryd Lyons and Michael Barlow during Trade Period.
Ablett also stayed at the club for three weeks post-season to continue rehabilitation on his injured shoulder.
Brown, who played 46 games for Gold Coast and 205 in his career, was sacked by the Suns in December 2013 after punching teammate Steven May.
