GOLD Coast defender Jarrod Harbrow has been charged by Queensland Police for drink driving and will not play against Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
The Suns released a statement saying Harbrow had been drinking at home on Sunday night and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.108 on Monday morning,
Football manager Marcus Ashcroft said in a statement that Harbrow can expect further punishment on top of being banned for the clash against the Hawks.
"Jarrod has expressed to us that he is extremely embarrassed by his actions and understands his poor judgement has let many people and his club down," Ashcroft said.
"In the next period of time, Jarrod will have to work hard to regain the trust and respect of his teammates, peers and the wider Gold Coast community.
"On top of the legal sanctions to be imposed in due course, we can confirm that Jarrod will be unavailable for senior selection this week.
"The club will hold further discussions with Jarrod and finalise its penalty following consultation with senior management and the player leadership group."
In a separate incident, Jack Martin was assaulted over the weekend, but has been cleared of any wrongdoing and will face the Hawks.
Police have charged a man over the incident.
The Suns toppled West Coast by three points last Saturday to help relieve some pressure on out-of-contract coach Rodney Eade.
Co-captain Steven May has also yet to sign a deal beyond 2017.
