Hawthorn Football Club has been informed by Lance Franklin he has incurred a speeding violation which will result in a suspension of his licence for six months.  
 
Franklin was detected speeding in Brighton East on Thursday afternoon, and was issued with a penalty notice which carries a six month licence suspension, the loss of demerit points and a fine.

Club officials expressed their disappointment in an initial meeting with Franklin and counselled him on the importance of responsible conduct on the roads. The Club will continue to follow its procedures to deal with player related issues of this nature.

Franklin acknowledged his actions were irresponsible and understands the implications it has on the wider community.
