Nineteen-year-old Browne said the young Carlton side had shown maturity to stay focused on the task of defeating the Eagles rather than be caught up in the intense media hype surrounding the return to Perth of its opponent's former captain Chris Judd.
It was a homecoming for Browne, too, who played football with West Perth in the WAFL and represented the WA under-18s side before being taken at pick 36 in the 2007 National AFL Draft.
"It’s a good experience just to come home and be able to have your family and friends come along to watch," he said.
"It was also a bit of a strange feeling playing against the team that I followed as a kid and to run around against [Eagle] Chris Masten, who I played with in the under-18s."
Browne said the team didn’t realise how big the local media build-up to Judd’s return game had been until they landed in Perth.
"There was not really that much coverage of it in Melbourne but once we got here it was pretty full-on," he said.
"But it didn’t distract us and Chris played a role in that. He’s an awesome guy and he doesn’t get carried away with any of that and so he just went his own way like he always does."
After a solid debut against Adelaide last week, Browne backed-up with 19 possessions against West Coast.
"Last week in the first quarter I was running around like a headless chook just trying to find the ball," he said.
"But in the second quarter I found the tempo of the game and just got a few touches which got my confidence up. I just and just kept going with that this week.
"For me it’s important to contribute to the side and make sure I play well enough to make the team each week.
"From the club’s point of view, we know we’ve got a talented group of young guys and if we keep working at it we can develop into an awesome force over the next few years.
"It’s pretty simple, we just have to keep at it and you never know what’s just around the corner."
Browne said the Blues would take advantage of next weekend’s break to refresh before taking on Brisbane at Telstra Dome in round eight.
