SCANS have confirmed Greater Western Sydney key defender Pepa Randall has ruptured her ACL and strained her MCL.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury late in the second term during Sunday's loss to Brisbane, landing awkwardly after jumping laterally in front of an incoming Greta Bodey in an intercept mark attempt.
Randall has been a mainstay of the Giants' backline since crossing from Melbourne at the conclusion of the 2017 season, having played 41 games for the club.
"It’s obviously devastating news for Pepa, but we’re a team and a family here at the Giants and we’ll be by her side, supporting her every step of the way," GWS coach Cam Bernasconi said.
"Pepa will continue to play a huge role in this team moving forward. She’s a great leader both on and off the field and I can’t speak highly enough of her and her leadership.
AFLW INJURY LIST How healthy is your team?
"We’ve got a young and emerging list of players so it’s a great opportunity for some of them to step up and play their role for the team."
Widely regarded as a difficult opponent for talls and smalls alike, the absence of Randall will leave a significant hole in the Giants' defence.
