CARLTON'S heart-breaking one-point loss to Collingwood in the AFL men's competition will be an additional motivating factor for the Blues' women's side on Thursday night, according to Blues star Mimi Hill.

The clubs' women's teams will face off in the NAB AFLW season seven opener at Ikon Park, after the men's loss resulted in the Blues missing the finals by 0.6 per cent.

"I think after watching yesterday, we're all a little bit more excited, we can't let Collingwood do that to Carlton two games in a row," Hill told Credit to the Girls podcast.

"We're ready to go. 100 per cent (we will use it as motivation). After watching yesterday, we were all a bit shattered, and we see how hard the boys work, and you could just see on their faces even just watching the vision, how shattered they were.

"Collingwood, little bit smug, so we don't want them to have that opportunity on Thursday," she said with a laugh.
