MELBOURNE hit the track on Tuesday night ahead of its preliminary final against North Melbourne with close to a full list available.

Defender Maddi Gay underwent a protracted warm-up away from the main group with a heavily strapped left knee, joining in after half an hour or so, but that is understood to be part of her normal routine.

Sabreena Duffy (foot) walked laps and completed boxing drills with a trainer on the sidelines, while Jordi Ivey (foot) jumped in and out of drills early in the session but ran out the full training.

The pregnant Sammie Johnson – who withdrew from matches in round four – also took part in selected non-contact drills.

Draftee Georgia Gall was back in full training after finishing her year 12 exams the day prior.

Inactive players Rhi Watt and Gabby Colvin (ACLs) are at different timelines of their rehab, with Watt completing more drills with the main group than the defender.

Watt – who left the track early – insisted a young fan sign the ruck's arm (complete with the girl's own playing number in junior footy) in return for giving her an autograph.

There was a clear focus on ball movement at the crucial training session.

One drill was built around clearing the ball from defensive 50 with switches of play, while another drilled down on picking a way through a zone defence, before flicking the switch when the ball was in the hands of speedsters Alyssa Bannan and Blaithin Mackin on the outside.

President Kate Roffey was a keen onlooker at Gosch's Paddock as a focused Dees group prepared for facing the Roos.

Training progressed into more specialised skill work (clearances under bump-bag pressure, kicking and marking).

It closed out with a hotly contested goalkicking competition, with energy high throughout the 90-minute session.
