AFL HEAD of women's football Nicole Livingstone has won the 2019 Jeannie Ferris Cancer Australia Recognition Award.
The annual award is given to two people for "excellence in the field of gynaecological cancer".
Livingstone was recognised under the consumer category, while specialised nurse Shannon Philp was the second recipient.
The consumer category is awarded to people who have had a personal experience with gynaecological cancer (including ovarian and cervical), either as someone who has been diagnosed, had a family member suffer or been a carer to someone with the disease.
Livingstone's mother passed away from cancer, leading her to co-found Ovarian Cancer Australia in 2001. Since then, she has been a patron, fundraiser and ambassador for the organisation.
"This year's awardees have made an outstanding contribution to improving outcomes for women with gynaecological cancers," CEO of Cancer Australia Dr Helen Zorbas said.
"I am delighted we can acknowledge Nicole and Shannon for their inspiring leadership roles."
