FORMER Melbourne co-captain Elise O'Dea has found her way to Carlton on an action-packed day four of the AFLW Sign and Trade Period.

O'Dea, 28, had requested a trade after four very strong seasons at Melbourne, wanting a change of scenery.

In a huge boost for Carlton's engine room, O'Dea and quick young teammate Maddy Guerin have crossed to Carlton in exchange for pick 15, originally given to the Blues by Richmond for Sarah Hosking.

The prospect of O'Dea and the 2020 AFLW best and fairest Maddy Prespakis working in tandem is a scary one for opposition teams.

Defender Katherine Smith also officially left Melbourne and is now at GWS on a two-year deal, in a complicated three-way trade involving Adelaide.

It takes the number of players to have left Melbourne in this Trade Period to six, with Harriet Cordner (Richmond), Aliesha Newman (Collingwood) and Bianca Jakobsson (St Kilda) involved in deals earlier this week.

Giant Lisa Whiteley has returned to her home state of South Australia after two games in two seasons at GWS as part of the Smith deal.

First-year Bulldog Hannah Munyard has returned home to South Australia for family reasons, having played three games after being signed as an un-drafted free agent.

She reached Adelaide via another three-way trade that also saw Collingwood forward Katie Lynch join the Western Bulldogs in the search for greater opportunities.

The Bulldogs then subsequently on-traded that pick 25 and their own pick 19 to Collingwood in return for pick 11, a first-rounder.

The Pies will need to reserve a first or second-rounder for father-daughter selection Tarni Brown (whose brothers Callum and Tyler are already at the club) come the NAB AFLW Draft.

Fremantle locked away three young stars in Roxy Roux, Hayley Miller and Mim Strom until the end of 2022, while confirming the core of their list – Kara and Ebony Antonio, Kiara Bowers, Gemma Houghton, Ange Stannett, Sabreena Duffy, Steph Cain, Philipa Seth, Gabby O'Sullivan, Ash Sharp, Matilda Sergeant and Tayla Bresland – are already locked in for 2021, having signed two-year deals last year.
