• Geelong's horror season plunged to new depths, with shining light Olivia Purcell tearing her ACL in the loss to Richmond. The Cats were scoreless to half-time and once again only kicked two goals for the game. They recorded 62 fewer disposals than the Tigers and despite trailing for the entirety of the match, eight fewer tackles.
• The dam wall has finally broken, and Richmond has won its first AFLW match in 11 attempts. Mon Conti's fine season continued, but more importantly, she was well supported by Ellie McKenzie, Sarah Hosking and Katie Brennan in a breakout Tiger performance up forward.

WESTERN BULLDOGS 7.5 (47) def. GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY 3.4 (22)

• A four-goal second term was the difference in the Dogs' big win over the Giants. Izzy Huntington and Bonnie Toogood starred up forward with three goals apiece, with the Bulldogs controlling the play on the outside, recording 43 more kicks than the Giants. The game was soured with a serious knee injury to Deanna Berry, which is suspected to be a torn ACL but is yet to be confirmed.
• It was another "frustrating" Giants performance, according to coach Alan McConnell, with the forward line struggling to maintain possession and allowing for easy rebounding for the Bulldogs. Katherine Smith made her return from a torn ACL, while Bec Beeson's strong season in the midfield continued.

FREMANTLE 1.8 (14) def. by BRISBANE 3.7 (25)

• The streak is finally over. Saturday marked Fremantle's first loss since the 2019 preliminary final and its first at Fremantle Oval since 2018. Inaccuracy once again struck the Dockers, who were forced to take shots from tough spots or under pressure by the Lions.
• The Lions produced an outstanding defensive effort to knock off the flag favourites, preventing any fluency out of the middle and chopping off inside-50 entries. Emily Bates was fantastic, dictating play across the ground, while Courtney Hodder relished the opportunity to play on her former home deck.

NORTH MELBOURNE 9.5 (59) def. CARLTON 6.1 (37)

• Keen to atone for the past few weeks, the Roos shot out of the blocks, booting two goals in the space of the first few minutes. Jasmine Garner bounced back to her best, willing the team forward as Carlton pressed early in the last. The floodgates eventually opened, kicking five straight fourth-quarter goals.
• Once again, slow starts continue to haunt the Blues. They struggled to find a target up forward in the opening term, and have now scored 1.2 from five first quarters. Darcy Vescio threatened to break the game open in the second quarter, Mimi Hill bobbed up in the last and Nicola Stevens was strong throughout, but the midfield was just overwhelmed.

ADELAIDE 8.13 (61) def. ST KILDA 1.2 (8)

• Adelaide brought St Kilda to an absolute stand-still, penning the Saints in time and time again in a defensive pocket as they attempted to rebound. The margin could have been even greater, but for the Crows' ongoing accuracy issues. Draftee Teah Charlton bobbed up for two goals, while the midfield of Ebony Marinoff, Erin Phillips and Anne Hatchard dominated
• A very tough day at the office for the Saints, who only broke through for their first score in the third term, a nice running goal from Kate Shierlaw set up by Georgia Patrikios. The Saints were slow and choked up, rarely getting any fluency and seriously missing speedsters Kate McCarthy (concussion), Nat Exon (groin) and Nicola Xenos (ACL).

COLLINGWOOD 7.7 (49) def. MELBOURNE 1.8 (14)

• It's happy days at Collingwood. The Pies are one game clear on top of the ladder after a club-record fifth straight victory. They were more effective with their ball use and beat the Dees on the inside. Brianna Davey led from the front with 25 disposals and two goals.
• Melbourne's hair-pulling inaccuracy continued, backing up last week's 2.12 with 1.8. The Dees struggled to pierce the Pies' strong defence and get their forwards kicking for a goal from favourable positions. They now sit outside the six, 51 per cent behind North Melbourne.

WEST COAST 5.4 (34) def. GOLD COAST 4.9 (33)

• Daniel Pratt's heart would have been in his mouth as the Eagles held strong, recording their first win in a year and his first as coach. Nineteen-year-old Mikayla Bowen was outstanding in the absence of Dana Hooker and Aisling McCarthy, with the Eagles bursting out of the blocks in the first quarter.
• Heartbreak for the Suns, whose quest for a first win in 2021 continues. The Suns came home with all the running, peppering the goals but falling just short. Kalinda Howarth hit the scoreboard for the first time this year, while Jamie Stanton booted 1.3.
