THE WESTERN Bulldogs started the AFLW Sign and Trade Period with pick No.11, but finished without a first-round selection.

After a series of pick swaps and a trade for Elle Bennetts, the Bulldogs currently have pick Nos. 22, 25, 27 and 43 ahead of the NAB AFLW Draft on July 27.

"It's an interesting draft from a Victorian sense this year. We feel after that pick No.5 range, it's fairly even, probably across the next 15 picks," Western Bulldogs AFLW list manager Mick Sandry told Credit to the Girls podcast.

"At one point, we had pick No.4 (in the Victorian pool), then there were some compensation selections came in, and we moved back to No.6.

"Another trade scenario went down, so we went from six to seven in Victoria, and we felt that having three second-round picks – so Victorian 13, 15 and 17 – we felt was a much stronger hand than having just the pick No.7."

Sandry also discussed the acquisition of Bennetts and Richelle Cranston, the failed Kim Rennie trade and how the cancellation of football in Victoria in 2020 affected the current draft crop.

Credit to the Girls is in the midst of an off-season mini-series, with each of the 14 clubs put under the microscope around trade and the draft.
