CARLTON legend Craig Bradley has flagged a more direct brand of football from the Blues this season.
The assistant coach said overuse of the ball had contributed to the team's poor performance in recent seasons.
“Our game style is a little different this season,” Bradley told radio SEN before the Blues’ NAB Cup grand final clash with the Brisbane Lions.
“We don’t want to over-possess, we want to play long and direct. The aim is to go straight for the goals.”
Bradley also warned the club would not be placing unreasonably high expectations on its young brigade, especially No.1 draft pick Bryce Gibbs.
“He’s put in a great pre-season and is a level-headed player,” Bradley said.
“He hasn’t had lot of ball yet but when he has, it’s been special.
"We’ve got to hold him back a bit, nurse him through, so don’t expect too much from him early.
“He needs game time and the ability to contribute a little.”
