Physical Preparation Assistant

 

The High Performance Unit is responsible for the delivery of physical preparation services to players of the Essendon Football Club. The position of assistant Physical Preparation Coach, within the High Performance Unit, will assist the High Performance Coach, Physical Preparation Coach, Performance Dietitian, Coaches and other staff in the delivery of world class physical preparation programs at Essendon Football Club.

The High Performance Unit is responsible for the delivery of physical preparation services to players of the Essendon Football Club. The position of assistant Physical Preparation Coach, within the High Performance Unit, will assist the High Performance Coach, Physical Preparation Coach, Performance Dietitian, Coaches and other staff in the delivery of world class physical preparation programs at Essendon Football Club.

 

Salary is negotiable dependant on experience and qualifications.

 

Reports to: High Performance Coach/Physical Preparation Coach/Performance Dietician

Responsibilities

 

The Assistant Physical Preparation coach will assist HPU staff with the following tasks: 

 

·         The supervision of conditioning for fit and injured players.

·         The delivery and supervision of strength training programs

·         Conducting physiological testing.

·         Collection of various load monitoring indices

·         Delivery of flexibility programs

·         Assist the performance dietician in the delivery of nutrition and hydration strategies.

·         Supervision of post training and stand alone recovery sessions

·         The design and conduct of specific speed/agility training sessions.

·         Conducting pre training warm up & post training recovery protocols.

·         Other duties as required

 

It is expected that the successful applicant participate in internal and external professional development activities and demonstrates a commitment to undertake ongoing formal education programs.

 

Qualifications

Essential :

·         Undergraduate degree in Sport/Exercise Science or similar

·         Level 2 or Higher ASCA Coach Accreditation or ability to attain within 6 months

Desirable:

·         Post graduate qualification in a Sports Science or related field

·         Eligibility for membership of AAESS

 

Experience

·         Experience working with elite level team sport athletes

·         Experience in applying evidence based practice

·         Experience and interest conducting applied Sports Science research

·         Experience in conducting physiological testing in accordance with NSSQA guidelines

Experience using specialist Sports Science equipment, technology and associated software

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
