FORMER Port Adelaide defender Ben Jacobs will make his debut for North Melbourne in its round one clash with Collingwood this Sunday.

North Melbourne announced Jacobs, 21, would run out against the Pies at Etihad Stadium on NMFC.com.au on Thursday.

After playing 26 games for Port in two seasons, Jacobs was snared by North in last year's draft after the Roos and Power could not agree to a deal during the trade period.

Despite playing predominantly in defence for the Power, Jacobs played in the midfield and at half-forward for North in this year's NAB Cup.

Jacobs had a delayed start to his 2013 pre-season after post-season ankle surgery, but returned in time to play in North's round one NAB Cup fixture.

Jacobs was drafted by the Power with pick No. 16 in the 2010 draft, one selection ahead of his new North teammate Shaun Atley.
