RooTube EXCLUSIVE: Dean Laidley announces captaincy to players |
The North Melbourne Football Club is delighted to announce Brent Harvey as its new leader heading into the 2009 season.
Harvey becomes the Kangaroos’ 39th captain and the honour further highlights his status as one of the club’s all-time greatest players.
Known affectionately as ‘Boomer’, the 30 year old will add the captaincy to his already long list of achievements which include a premiership in 1999, four Syd-Barker medals and four All-Australian team selections.
Dean Laidley made the announcement to the playing group and coaching staff this morning and praised the contributions of outgoing captain Adam Simpson.
“It’s unfortunately the end of the line for Adam, but we thank him enormously for doing a terrific job over the years.” Laidley said.
Drew Petrie has been named vice-captain with Brady Rawlings and Daniel Pratt rounding out the new look leadership group.
