SYDNEY Swans utility Gary Rohan will miss up to six weeks of football after having an arthroscopy on his right knee on Wednesday.

Rohan, 19, played the first four games of the season, but hurt his knee in a training mishap ahead of the Swans' clash against Carlton in round six.

The club's medical staff had hoped the cartilage damage he suffered would heal on its own, but made the call earlier this week to have it repaired surgically.

"He had a bit of cartilage damage behind his knee cap," club physiotherapist Matt Cameron told sydneyswans.com.au.

"We were hoping for that to heal naturally, but it's starting to float around a little bit, so we need to go in and remove it."

The former Geelong Falcon debuted at Skilled Stadium against the Cats in round seven last season and has played 13 AFL games with the Swans since being selected sixth overall at the 2009 NAB AFL Draft.

In other injury news, Kieren Jack is back running after suffering an ankle injury in the round six loss to Carlton.

The 23-year-old onballer will not be available for selection for Saturday's clash against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, but will push for inclusion in the team to take on the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba the weekend after.

Ruckman Mike Pyke (quad) and defender Matt Spangher (hamstring) have also been cleared for a possible return against the Lions, while youngster Jed Lamb has been cleared to play after two weeks off with a minor hamstring strain.

Injury-plagued full-forward Daniel Bradshaw underwent surgery on Wednesday of last week to release tightness in his knee with Cameron hopeful the procedure will allow the former Brisbane Lion to be up and running in a week or so.

The 32-year-old hasn't played since kicking three goals against the Western Bulldogs in last season's five-point semi-final loss.
