The North Melbourne Football Club’s original and longest running coterie group the Northerners has given the Kangaroos an enormous off-field boost by handing over a cheque worth more than $120,000.
Delivered to club Chief Executive Eugene Arocca at his Etihad Stadium office by coterie President Caroline Carnegie, the cheque was a welcomed surprise.
“This is an outstanding effort by the most loyal and hard working coterie in the AFL. The Northerners continue to offer this club a staggering amount of support and we are forever grateful for their ongoing contribution,” Arocca said.
The Northerners is ideal for supporters wishing to increase their level of support as a member of the North Melbourne Football Club.
Established in 1967, the exclusive group is about loyalty, camaraderie, commitment and passion, with members offering the club professional skills, mentoring and financial support.
“To finish the season having contributed around 125 per cent of our target is a credit to the great bunch of people that make up our coterie. In a year of such economic uncertainty we are thrilled with the result,” Carnegie commented.
Business based members of the Northerners enjoy a networking environment while others bring their families along and have the chance to participate in unique experiences with the playing group, coaching staff and game day corporate hospitality.
“We’ve spent countless hours not only working on strategic objectives and ways to move forward but more importantly, carrying out the day to day tasks associated with game-day planning, fundraising and providing top quality service to our members.
“Our structure now enables all our members to feel a sense of ownership and belonging to what we do and we are working towards positioning ourselves as a second tier sponsor of North Melbourne,” added Carnegie.
