Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Blake said it was an important supporting role which he could play for the team alongside ruckmen Ben McEvoy and Michael Gardiner.
“I certainly see the opportunity to play that running ruck role,” he said.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how our club and the other clubs use that sub rule. Leigh Brown did it so well last year and I think a lot of clubs will be leaning towards playing that way,” Blake said.
Blake has experience in fulfilling the ‘pinch-hitting’ position, having played the majority of his 187 game AFL career in both the ruck and defence.
