Geelong defender Josh Hunt believes that contested ball and ball use will ultimately decide the outcome of Friday night’s blockbuster against the Saints.
Speaking on CAT CHAT on CATS TV, Hunt forecast a physical encounter between the top two teams.
“It will be hot early,” Hunt said.
“There will be a lot of physical contests which is the way both teams like it. It will be a matter of who wins the contested ball and who uses the ball the best going forward. It will be a very skilful and quick game.”
Hunt missed the entire 2009 campaign with a knee injury, including the grand final. However he is looking forward to the rematch.
“Grand final rematch is always a great game to be involved in,” he said.
“Everyone wrote St Kilda off when Riewoldt went down, but it just goes to show that when you have a good side other guys step up to fill the void.
“It will be a massive task for us but we’re looking forward to getting out there and playing in front of a big crowd at the MCG.”
Hunt, who was joined on CAT CHAT by host Chris Appleby and the Herald Sun’s Scott Gullan. The trio also touched on:
- The classic 2009 grand final
- Geelong’s new forward set up
- Paul Chapman’s rise as an elite AFL player
- The mid-year break
- The potential of the AFL to move to a conference structure as seen in the USA
