The moment: Stephen Milne opened the second term with two quick goals and then out-positioned Josh Hunt and with an open goal beckoning dribbled the ball through from a tough angle. It was a bold move for a player who famously stuffed up a dribbling goal in last year’s grand final when a drop punt would have sufficed.

The moment: The experts had tipped Fremantle’s young players may suffer stage fright in their first finals appearance. Someone obviously forgot to tell Anthony Morabito that. Taking the ball on the wing he set off at blistering pace and, with the protection of a crunching block from Aaron Sandilands, took three bounces before calmly slotting home Fremantle’s second goal of the day.

The moment: Barry Hall looked like he was going to struggle when he lumbered towards the goalpost in pursuit of the ball, he collided with the post, but took the brunt of the blow in his body and managed to keep the pill from connecting with post. He bounced off and kicked a beauty as debate commenced over whether it was a goal.
4. Sydney Swans 14.15 (99) d Carlton 13.16 (94) at ANZ Stadium

The moment: The Swans looked like lame ducks for much of the second half as Chris Judd tore them apart, but at the 13th minute mark of the final term some superb tackle pressure from them and a smart handball from Jesse White saw Trent Dennis-Lane stream into an open goal and tie up the game, as the crowd roared.
