ESSENDON, Brisbane Lions and St Kilda will field relatively inexperienced sides for this Friday's three-way clash at Etihad Stadium.

All three sides will go into Friday night without several of their key players, but first-round draftees Dyson Heppell, Jared Polec and Jamie Cripps have all been named by their respective teams.

The Bombers, who play games one and three of the round-robin format, have named a 36-man squad they can pick from for both games.

Tayte Pears (foot), David Hille (knee) and Kyle Reimers (thigh) have been left out, as has Andrew Welsh who has been rested. But young Bombers Heppell, Alex Browne and Luke Davis look set to make their debuts.

The Lions will take to the field without veterans Jonathan Brown, Luke Power and Simon Black, as well as Brendan Fevola who is on indefinite leave from the club.

Patrick Karnezis, Ryan Lester and Josh Green should make their first appearances in Lions colours alongside fellow 2010 draftee Polec after they were named in the 29-man squad.

St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will watch on from the side lines, as will grand final teammates Lenny Hayes, Justin Koschitzke, Sam Gilbert, Michael Gardiner, Clint Jones and Adam Schneider.

Irish recruit Tommy Walsh and 2009 second-round NAB AFL Draft pick Nick Winmar have been named for the first time in St Kilda's senior side. as have recruits Sam Crocker and Tom Ledger.
