PORT ADELAIDE has tied up the services of youngsters Travis Boak, Robbie Gray and Nathan Krakouer until the end of the 2010 season, heralding the trio as keys to their future success.
Boak, Gray and Krakouer were drafted before the start of 2007 season and all played promising cameos in the Power's surprising run to the Grand Final.
Each is aged 19 entering into their second season, and Port coach Mark Williams was understandably happy to have headed off the "go home factor" to retain their services.
"As a club we couldn't have hoped for anything better than we got from Travis, Robbie and Nathan last year, particularly given they all joined us from interstate only last season," Williams said.
"We do keep in mind that they are very much in the infancy of their careers and their development won't always be linear but it's fair to say we're excited about our future with these young players as part of it."
Following Port's first round NAB Cup loss to Carlton, Williams said that many of the youngsters who took such great strides in 2007, including Wednesday's signatories, may do well to simply maintain the rate of progress they exhibited last year.
The Power will be without senior ruckman Dean Brogan for Saturday's NAB Challenge fixture against Collingwood at MC Labour due to an abdominal strain.
Brogan is likely to be out of action for two weeks, meaning he remains a chance to be fit for round one of the season proper.
