Contact between the Western Bulldogs’ Ryan Griffen and Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell from the second quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The panel said that Mitchell was gathering the ball as Griffen was moving towards the contest. Mitchell turned to his left as Griffen was running past and Griffen makes high contact to Mitchell with his upper arm. The panel said the action was not a striking motion and was not a bumping motion and the contact was not considered reportable. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Western Bulldogs’ Brian Lake and Hawthorn’s Lance Franklin from the fourth quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between Port Adelaide’s Daniel Motlop and Fremantle’s Rhys Palmer from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said Palmer was tackled by Motlop and that the Port Adelaide player lifted Palmer in his tackling motion. While completing the tackles, Palmer’s head does not make contact with the ground and there was no injury sustained. It was deemed the tackle was not made with excessive force and no further action was required.
Contact between Port Adelaide’s Daniel Motlop and Fremantle’s Adam McPhee from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Motlop was brought to ground by McPhee in a tackle. As the Port Adelaide player was still on the ground, he attempts to get up to return to the play and is held by McPhee. He tries to break the hold on him and primary contact is made to McPhee’s arm and hand. It was the view of the panel his actions did not constitute a reportable offence and no further action was required.
Contact between Port Adelaide’s Nick Salter and Fremantle’s Ryan Crowley from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between Essendon’s Tyson Slattery and the Adelaide Crows’ Bernie Vince from the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Slattery was attempting to shepherd Vince from his teammate when contact was made. The initial contact was made to Vince’s upper arm area and then slides up to make high contact. The action was not deemed to be a striking action and no further action was taken.
Contact between Collingwood’s Luke Ball and West Coast’s Beau Wilkes from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Ball was pursuing the ball after a boundary line throw-in. Wilkes arrives at the contest just before Ball and bends down to gain possession. Ball tries to minimise the impact of the contact and contact is made primarily to the shoulder region of the West Coast player. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Geelong Cats’ Jimmy Bartel and North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson from the third quarter of Sunday’s game was assessed. The contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between North Melbourne’s Hamish McIntosh and the umpire from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game was assessed. The panel said McIntosh was following the flight of the ball at a bounce and had his eyes on the ball at all times. Due to the bounce skewing off line, accidental contact is made to the umpire, who is caught under the flight of the ball. No further action was taken.
Contact between Richmond’s Trent Cotchin and the Sydney Swans’ Martin Mattner from the second quarter of Sunday’s game was assessed. Due to the inconclusive nature of the vision available, which could not determine the contact made to player Mattner, no further action was taken.
